Expose and bond is a common orthodontic procedure used to uncover impacted teeth that have not erupted properly into the mouth. It involves exposing the impacted tooth and attaching an orthodontic bracket to it, allowing the orthodontist to apply forces to guide the tooth into its correct position.
You may need expose and bond if you have impacted teeth, such as canines or premolars, that are unable to erupt into the mouth on their own. Impacted teeth can lead to alignment issues, crowding, or other orthodontic problems if left untreated. Expose and bond allows the orthodontist to properly align the impacted tooth as part of your orthodontic treatment plan.
The duration of expose and bond treatment varies depending on the complexity of the case and the position of the impacted tooth. After the initial surgical procedure, it may take several months for the impacted tooth to fully erupt and move into its correct position with orthodontic treatment. Your orthodontist will monitor your progress throughout your treatment.
